YOUNG REPORTERS
To help celebrate Playday, we're recruiting a team
of young reporters to cover the campaign for a special Playday 2010
magazine.
The magazine will feature stories, photos and all the
excitement of the big day.
The team of young reporters will help us build a picture of how
Playday is celebrated across the UK. Reporters can get involved in
lots of ways, here are a few ideas:
News report
Write a short report about the Playday event you
visited. You might want to tell us where it was, who was
there and what things there were to do.
Or, you could write about this year’s
Our place theme. Think about why it’s important
that children can play outside where they live what might happen if
they can't.
Photos
If you don’t want to write about the Playday event, you
could take pictures instead. You could tell a story with
your Playday photos, choose your favourites and include a few words
to describe them.
If your photographs include
anyone under 18, you need to make sure you have the right
permission, so that we can publish them. Go to the
'Resources' pages for further photography
guidance and to download a template consent form.

top tips for some extra guidance on taking great
photographs.
Interviews
Asking questions is a good way to find out about what’s
going on.
If you're going to a Playday event,
you might want to interview an adult or young person who organised
it. Or you might want to go into the crowds and ask
children and their families for their views. Are any special guests
going to the event who you can interview?
Alternatively you might want to
interview a local decision maker, or other adults,
children or young people about this year's Our place theme.
Comment pieces
Write about this year's Our place theme from
your perspective. Think about why it's important for
children can play outside around where they live and what might
happen if they can’t. You might want to think about what things
stop children playing outside, and write about what people can do
to make sure they can.
To read some of last year's reports download the Playday 2009 magazine.
