2013: Playful places

PLAYDAY 2013: Playful places

Playday 2013 was on Wednesday 7 August and the theme was Playful places.

The Playful places campaign called on everyone to help make sure that the places where children play and hang out are great places to play.

The campaign recognised that:

  • Children should feel welcomed where they live and feel part of their communities.
  • Parents want their children to be able to play outside.
  • Public space should be designed and managed with children's play in mind.
  • Children and young people need to be involved in planning the places and spaces where they play.

For more information about developing a local campaign as part of Playday, please visit our Developing a campaign pages.

Playday 2013 supporters

Each year, Playday receives wide-ranging support from a number of national organisations. We would like to thank everyone for their support, including Fields in Trust, who's Have a Field Day campaign supported Playday 2013. As well as encouraging local communities to enjoy their green spaces, the campaign called on anyone planning a Playday celebration to find their nearest Fields in Trust protected field on their website and think about holding their event there. So, with Fields in Trust and Playday, children, families and whole communities will always have somewhere to play!
