Children’s Play Information Service (CPIS)

CPIS is a specialist information resource providing information on all aspects of children’s play. CPIS produces fact sheets on a variety of play topics and can provide you with a list of local play networks and associations, which can help you to organise your Playday event and wider campaign.

Children 1st

Children 1st take action for Scotland’s vulnerable children and families. They speak out on children’s rights, influence legislation and campaign for change. Contact them for information on the protection and safety of children and young people in Scotland.

Health and Safety Executive

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the non-departmental public body of the UK government responsible for regulating risks to health and safety in the UK. They provide specific guidance on managing risk in play provision.

Play Safety Forum

The Play Safety Forum brings together organisations interested in play safety including those from the voluntary, statutory and private sectors. They have produced Managing risk in play provision: A position statement to support the work of those involved in play provision, as well as an implementation guide. RoSPA

RoSPA provides information on playground management and the safety of indoor and outdoor play areas. It also has a list of helpful publications to aid in understanding and maintaining play safety.

Safe Network

The Safe Network is jointly managed by the NSPCC and Children England, and was created as a result of the Government’s Staying Safe action plan. They provide safeguarding information related to activities outside the home – from after school art clubs to weekend reading groups, including on running safe events.

The Media Trust is a specialist charity communications organisation. They produce comprehensive online guides which cover a range of media and communications issues that can help you get attention for your campaign including PR, marketing, and dealing with the media. Play England is a leading publisher of play news, information and research. Save Children's Play is a resource that communities can use to establish their own local campaigns for children's play. Funky Dragon

Funky Dragon is the Children and Young People’s Assembly for Wales. It’s a peer-led organisation aiming to give young people up to age 25 the opportunity to have their voices heard on issues that affect them, particularly by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Participation Works

Participation Works is a partnership of six national children and young people’s agencies that enables organisations to effectively involve children and young people in the development, delivery and evaluation of services that affect their lives. If you're holding a large event, you'll need to consider involving the emergency services.
