We will create two environments inspired by artists’ books for children. The participants will then be invited to enter the pages of these “stories” and transform them according to their own experiences, creating their own narrative. The books chosen are “Pre-books”, Bruno Munari; “Bichos do Lixo” (free translation: animals made out of rubbish), by Ferreira Gullar.

The workshop aims to question, to create and to play with a new perspective about what an artist’s book can be. What does make it different of other types of book?

Based on these enquires and using the books as the main references, children, young people, families, adults, elders (or whoever feels like to), will have the opportunity to create new artistic books and narratives with different types of materials and concepts of what a book could be, joining a very playful and free activity.

We will display various types of materials in a big table and after an introduction about artist’s books, the participants will have the opportunity to create their own narrative from the elements available for the experience. The materials will be paper, coloured papers, textiles, foam, cardboard, different types of papers, transparency films and more.

Children, young people, families, adults, elders (or whoever feels like to) are invited to participate on this workshop, that will run from 11:00 -15:00 on Saturday 5th August 2017 at The Creative Space (29 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green London E2), as part of the activities of the INTERATIVOS creative workshop.
