Yorkshire Coast Homes are once again organising our event to celebrate all the fun that children can have at the seaside! The National Playday campaign is calling on everyone to help make sure that children and young people across the UK have the time, freedom and space to play outdoors. The event will have a traditional maritime heritage theme and will have fun sports related activities such as beach volleyball, penalty shoot outs and games. The children will also be able to make maritime related crafts to take away with them.
We are planning our very own Play day in our place of work. I work on the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital and would like to celebrate this day as we think play is very important, in a hospital setting play is sometimes the one thing that children can do without being afraid so we want to create a fun filled day to make the children on the ward happy and their current situation a little more fun and enjoyable.
Join us for a exciting day of making, creating and play to celebrate National Playday.
Transform our outside space into a creative playground. Join us to create a den, climb soft structures and take part in creative messy play.
No booking required, just turn up and play!
Portobello Play Sculpture
Test out our new play sculpture made by artist Natalie Finnemore. This has been made for children by children at Sandal Castel and invites you to get active with art including sculpture building activities throughout the day.
After this, the sculpture goes back to the Portobello community for the summer as part of Soul Portobello Thursdays.
We are excited to show the sculpture before it goes back to Portobello community for the summer. Try out the sculpture and creative sculpture building activity with Natalie throughout the day.
